My mission is to showcase the workstyle and lifestyle of an emerging engineer. My ultimate goal is to encourage & empower young women who might be interested in STEM by providing transparency to the field & help to foster social enthusiasm for women in engineering. Check out the posts and feel free to ask questions or let me know if I’ve gotten anything wrong!

Thanks for joining me! I’d love to have you in on the conversation at https://www.facebook.com/groups/enginist/  🙂

Young girls need to see role models in whatever careers they may choose, just so they can picture themselves doing those jobs someday. You can’t be what you can’t see.”

According to information from the National Science Foundation, women are still under-represented in engineering even given significant increases of women into STEM fields.

Interestingly, while women make up about 20% of students in engineering, this does not transpose to women in the engineering workforce at a meager 14%.

In a U.S. Census Bureau study, just 12% of civil engineers are women.
